I love art—any kind of art, from street art to the great masters. I can’t think of anything more engaging. I started painting about fifteen years ago when I was decorating my house. I started by using latex paint on foam pieces because that’s all I had. I made these funny little sculptures but they were fragile. I next moved on to making mosaic pieces with broken plates, stones, beads…whatever I could find. My first mosaic was a large piece which I have since donated to The Southwest Environmental Center. It took me all winter to do but it was such a fun challenge!
Lately I’ve been working with acrylic paint on canvas. Most of my work is highly textural and saturated with color. I often include found objects in my pieces. I also use copper foil, iridescent paint, paper, polymer clay, floral wire etc. I find there is no end to the creative uses for repurposed items. I love showing my art and talking to people about the creative process. It’s my personal belief that there is an artist inside all of us waiting to be set free. How that art manifests is personal to each individual. When people look at my work and say, I can do that, I say, yes you can! Go play with your ideas and don’t worry about what other people think. Play until you lose yourself; that’s where creativity lives.
I work at home and have made my front office into a gallery of sorts. I am always pleased to show my work. Please email for an appointment and I will give directions. firstname.lastname@example.org
