Jane H. Madrid, a Las Cruces resident since 1959, has painted since the age of eight. Her serious work began around 2005 when she gradually prepared for the end of a successful Information Technology career with the Department of Justice, United States Attorney’s Office.
Jane has studied with the world renowned Sherry C. Nelson, MDA/TAD, (Master Decorative Artist/Teacher of Decorative Art) and bill Bayer, CDA (Certified Decorative Artist) as well as Susan Young, CDA and Linda Coulter, CDA, Dorothy Dent, CDA, Cheri Rol, CDA/MDA, and Misha Lebedev a Russian Artist. She has traveled to California, Arizona, Kansas, Indiana and Nevada for lessons with the above artists. Her works have appeared at the Brannigan Library, Munson Senior Center, Good Samaritan Retirement Center Craft Fair, and the Black Box Theater.
Jane’s main media of painting is oil and some acrylic. Jane’s major artistic themes center around nature, with a particular emphasis on animals, flowers, birds, butterflies, landscape, and the interaction of these within the environment.
