ABOUT US

Las Cruces Arts Association was established in 1962. During its first four years, the association sponsored regular exhibits at the Town and Country Restaurant Ballroom on Main Street. In 1965 the association began its tradition of sponsoring shows for student artists. By 1966, the group was meeting at the Holiday Inn, (now the Ramada Inn) and displaying art in its banquet room. The group also began holding art festivals at the Loretto Shopping Center Mall. [Source]

The Beginning of LCAA

(Circa 1962 - 1967)

During the late 1980's, the organization began a steady climb towards 80 members, which it has held to present day, peaking at 100. Focus was put into expanding artist interaction, through street art and vending, working with the City of Las Cruces to bring art to the public.

The Future of Las Cruces Arts & Crafts Association

LCAA has always ranged anywhere from 50 to 100 members, but we are making it our mission to push ourselves, working to improve our organization by reaching out to younger and more diverse members of the arts community. Las Cruces is a beautiful and artistic city, and we're so thankful to be a part of it. We have set our sights on the future as we usher in a new decade, hoping for a bigger and better year, with more community involvement and artist recognition. We're working to reach out to new venues and galleries, and we feel the first step is to have an accessible website that everyone can use and enjoy. This organization has been serving Las Cruces for 57 years, and we are so very excited for what the future will hold.

And please, if you're interested, we'd love for you to be a part of that future.
