From the first time I watched dye flowing from my brush onto silk, I was hooked.  Working with dyes and silk gives me the opportunity to explore the intense colors of the dyes and the sensuous quality of the silk.  The effects of dyes on silk often surprise me in delightful ways.  Painting plein air on silk

has deepened the connection I feel toward landscape, air, light and shadow.

    Retiring from a career of art therapy and teaching art has given me the time to pursue my painting professionally and explore the many ways of working with silk and dyes.
